Dr. Russell A. Carleton has been a writer for Baseball Prospectus since 2009. He holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from DePaul University in Chicago. He is author of the book, The Shift: The Next Evolution in Baseball Thinking, released on April 1, 2018.
In 2019, Russell took a part-time position for a year as an analyst for the New York Mets.
He currently resides in Atlanta, GA.
